mom sharron, aunt connie, beverly, her sister brenda and i all converged on serenbe 3 days later for mom's birthday brunch. me and the girls i call it. they're all headland class of 62 and i'm class of 80. it was a fine meal at the farmhouse, altho i enjoyed our dinner at the Hil for mom's birthday dinner last year more. maybe its just the ambience of a full house of neighbors on a saturday night vs. a quiet, sparse brunch crowd. or maybe, they were still recovering from 'a day in the country.' brunch was good but not great; fried peppery chicken, brussel sprout hash!, greens, sweet cornbread, penne pasta salad w/celery seed, mustard, proscuitto maybe and other stuff, followed by poached pear sundae. the coffee was superb, gotta find out what they brew. in any case, i was prolly just missing the whole fried okra, scallops served over butternut/blackeyeds/greens that i had at the Hil. after brunch we strolled for new shops and saw some of your art on a front porch. a chicken i believe. i recognized it from here, after hal pointed me your way. thanks for sharing. i'm enjoying it.

Hey Willie, The Sack is Back! Never made it into DC. They put me at the back of a line that started just outside of Charlotte. Bunch of guys in suits and ties all arounf me. They made me nervous so I headed back south. This got me to thinking about what you said about partying like 1969. Like wow man farout! Like this trip to DC was like the one that I had trying to get to Woodstock man. Like far out man and I ended up in Rehobeth Beach, Deleware man with this far out chick! I didn't get to Woodstock man. I missed Janis and Jimmie but like I think I got to see what heaven is gonna be like man...Far out! That's about all I remember about 1969. Like I know I was there but I just don't remember much. These days I remember everything...bummer man. Hey like let's party Man!!!!
